Laptop 15 bs013dx

Comments indicate known problems with hinges. Hp fixed mine once. Now broken again.  Since it's a long time ongoing problem reported on multiple posts, how can I get another repair. I don't want to pay for a brand new laptop that operates great just because a hinge is broke.

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help,

This sounds like hardware related issue with the Hinge assembly and in order to fix this issue,  your computer needs to be serviced.  As we have limited support boundaries in the support community as of now.

I would request you to reach out to our Support and our Support Engineers should be able to check the available service options in order to diagnose the computer physically.  HP Support can be reached by clicking on the following link:  www.hp.com/contacthp/

I cannot find a way to communicate with HP about the known hinge issues by using the link you gave me.  I cannot understand how they could continue making laptops with this hinge issue after having a recall for same type issue back in 2009.  If I can just get enough information to order all of the parts needed to make this repair, I think I can do it myself.  There are plenty of videos because the problem is so widespread for so many owners and has gone on for so long.  I cannot afford to buy a new laptop right now, so getting HP to fix it would be ideal.  Fixing it myself would not be out of the question.

Your reply is the same as the first one from HP employee.   Can someone please forward my question about the hinge to someone who can send me an email about  --   Will HP repair this known hinge issue for me.  Same hinge broke again that they repaired while laptop still under warranty.   --- I don't think I should have to pay for the problem they fixed once before, especially since there are so many complaints about this problem.  --- At the very least, tell me the part numbers that I need to do the repair myself.

Hi@carnescf,

You may order the replacement parts on the HP Parts Store, use the HP Parts Surfer to find the part number and If you've already looked for it and couldn't find it on the HP Parts Store, you may want to get it locally at the online store such as Amazon or eBay, etc...as the part numbers are universal.

Alternatively, I suggest you talk to HP support and discuss your options, follow the below steps to get started:

1) Click on this link

2) Click on Sign-in or select the product using the below step:

3) Enter the serial of your device.

4) Select the country from the drop-down.

5) Click on "Show Options". Fill the web-form, to populate a case number and phone number for yourself!

Also, if you are having trouble navigating through the above options, it's most likely because the device is out of warranty, if yes? please send me a private message with the region you are contacting us from, here's how private messages work: Click here for details.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
