Laptop internal temperature warning and corresponding shut down

I had an issue with my laptop fan not operating correctly and sent it in under warrantee for repair.  While the laptop was in for service the warrantee expired.  HP sent me a new replacement for my laptop and now it is malfunctioning in the same way the original one did.  I took it in for professional repair which did not fix the problem.  I feel like there should be some help as the unit they sent me is defective.  I need help and any advice is appreciated.  -Juli
