Hi @Raghvendra13,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I'm sorry to hear that you're facing issues with your HP Pavilion Laptop's key. There could be several reasons why a laptop key is not working, ranging from hardware to software issues. Let's go through some troubleshooting steps to try and resolve the problem.

  • Restart your laptop: Sometimes, a simple restart can fix minor software glitches that may be causing the key to malfunction.
  • Check for physical obstructions: Look closely at the key to see if there is any debris or dirt stuck under it. Use compressed air or a soft brush to clean around the key.
  • Try an external keyboard: Connect an external USB keyboard to your laptop and check if the key in question works on the external keyboard. If it does, the issue might be with the laptop's built-in keyboard.
  • Check for driver updates: Go to the official HP website, find the support section for your laptop model, and check for any available keyboard driver updates. Download and install any updates found.
  • Check keyboard settings: Ensure that the keyboard settings are configured correctly. Sometimes, accidental changes to settings can cause issues. Go to the Control Panel (or Settings on Windows 10) > "Hardware and Sound" > "Devices and Printers" > find your laptop's keyboard > right-click and select "Keyboard Settings" to review the settings.
  • Uninstall and reinstall the keyboard driver: Right-click on the Start button, select "Device Manager," locate the "Keyboards" section, right-click on your laptop's keyboard, and choose "Uninstall device." After uninstalling, restart your laptop, and Windows should automatically reinstall the driver.
  • Check for system updates: Make sure your operating system is up to date, as system updates often include bug fixes and improvements.
  • Perform a system restore: If the problem started recently and you can't identify any specific changes that might have caused it, consider performing a system restore to a point where the keyboard was working fine.
  • Run a hardware diagnostic test: Some HP laptops have built-in hardware diagnostic tools. Restart your laptop and press the appropriate key (usually F2 or F10) during startup to access the diagnostics. Run a keyboard test to check if the key registers.

If none of the above steps resolve the issue and the key is still not working, it's possible that there's a hardware problem with the laptop's keyboard.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
