Hi @abcd123489352,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I understand your OMEN 17.3-inch Gaming Laptop PC 17-ck1000 (509V8AV) is experiencing automatic typing of the "W" key; this is likely due to a keyboard hardware fault or driver/software glitch. Here's how to troubleshoot it:

1. Basic Checks

  • Clean the keyboard: Gently remove any dust or debris around the "W" key.
  • Check for physical damage: Is the key stuck or loose?

2. External Keyboard Test

  • Connect a USB or Bluetooth keyboard.
  • If the external keyboard works fine, the issue is likely with the built-in keyboard hardware.

3. Boot into BIOS

  • Restart your laptop and press F10 repeatedly to enter BIOS.
  • If the "W" key types automatically in BIOS, it's a hardware issue.
  • If not, it may be a software/driver issue.

4. Update or Reinstall Keyboard Driver

  • Open Device Manager > Keyboards.
  • Right-click the keyboard and choose Uninstall device.
  • Restart your laptop to reinstall the driver automatically.

5. Run HP Diagnostics

  • Use HP’s built-in tool to test the keyboard:
    • Press Esc repeatedly at startup, then F2.
    • Select Component Tests > Keyboard Test.

6. Check for BIOS and Firmware Updates

I hope this helps.

Take care, and have an amazing day!
