Hi @Terra25,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

If your HP Notebook 15 isn’t turning on or charging via USB-C, here are some important things to check:

Important Notes About Charging via USB-C

Most HP Notebook 15 models do not support charging via USB-C, unless:

  • The USB-C port supports Power Delivery (PD).
  • You're using a USB-C charger with sufficient wattage (usually 65W or higher).
  • The port is labelled with a charging icon or Thunderbolt symbol.

If your USB-C port is data-only, it won’t charge the laptop.

Steps to Troubleshoot

1. Confirm USB-C Charging Support

  • Check your model number (usually on the bottom of the laptop or in BIOS).
  • Visit HP Support and search for your model to confirm if USB-C charging is supported.

Let me know your exact model (e.g., HP Notebook 15-dw3xxx) and I’ll check for you.

2. Try a Known Compatible Charger

  • Use a 65W or 90W USB-C PD charger from HP or a trusted brand.
  • Plug it into the correct USB-C port (if multiple exist).

3. Check for Signs of Life

  • Plug in the charger and look for:
    • Charging LED near the port.
    • Fan noise or keyboard backlight.
    • Screen flicker or HP logo.

If none of these appear, the laptop may not be receiving power.

4. Try a Hard Reset

  • Disconnect everything.
  • Hold the power button for 15 seconds.
  • Reconnect the charger and try powering on.

I hope this helps.

Take care, and have an amazing day!
