I purchased a 240 GB Crucial BX500 SSD to upgrade and the adapter cable to connect to my laptop. When plugged into the USB port, the lights on the adapter are lit, but the laptop isn't acknowledging the SSD drive is connected. When I ran the Acronis cloning software (as specified by Crucial), I get an error message that says "this product requires at least on Crucial SSD be installed in your system", so it's obviously not recognizing the SSD.
Any suggestions?

Good idea....I just tried connecting to a different laptop and that one isn't recognizing the USB connection either.
Is there such a thing as an incompatible cable? It connects fine to the drive and the other end has a split USB with 2 plugs. Could it be a bad cable?

Interesting, vendor of the adapter says it is ONLY compatible with Mac (Apple), not Windows. You may have to initialize the drive BUT you can't because machine won't accept adapter.
Regards.

Weird.....It doesn't say that in the product description on Amazon and actually lists all the Windows compatibilities.
Guess I'll return for the correct cable.....
Any suggestions as to one that will work properly?
