HP Notebook 15s-fq1000nb

So first my laptop stopped charging even while plugged in. it turned off when the percentage was on 0.

I then bought a new battery, but it's like the new battery isn't even working, while I know for a fact that I bought the right one.

I'm starting to think it's not the battery that's bad, but that there is something else wrong.

Hi @Gabri_1,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding charging issues on the HP Notebook 15s-fq1000nb!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

Check the power adapter.

  • Ensure proper connection: Check if the power adapter is securely connected to your laptop and the wall outlet.
  • Test with another outlet: Try using a different electrical outlet to rule out any issues with the current outlet.
  • Inspect the adapter: Look for any signs of damage on the power adapter or cord. If possible, test with another compatible charger.

Battery Connection

  • Proper installation: Ensure the new battery was installed correctly according to HP's guidelines.
  • Reboot system: With the new battery installed, restart your computer to ensure the system properly recognizes it.

Update System Software

  • BIOS update: Verify if there's a BIOS update available for your HP Notebook that might address charging issues.
  • Driver update: Ensure all system drivers are up-to-date, especially power management drivers.

Battery Status Check

  • Battery report: Generate a battery report using Windows. This can provide insights into the battery health and efficiency.
  • Battery Test: Use HP's built-in hardware diagnostics to run a battery test.

Check Charging Port

  • Inspect the charging port: Look for debris or damage in the charging port that might prevent proper contact with the adapter.

Software and Hardware Diagnostics

  • HP PC Hardware Diagnostics: Use HP Diagnostics software to check the battery, adapter, and connection health.
  • Hard Reset: Perform a hard reset by turning off the laptop, disconnecting the power adapter and battery, and pressing the power button for 15 seconds. Then, reconnect and try charging again.

I hope this helps.
