Common problems for Battery
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about: Battery Reports, Hold a charge, Test and Calibrating Battery . Check out this link: Is your notebook plugged in and not charging?
HP Recommended
Pavilion 17-ab005nd
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My laptop shuts down after 5 mins on battery. Windows says the battery still has 60% when it suddenly shuts down in the same way it would shut down when you pull the battery out.

This started happening very recently, after I re-installed Windows. I never had problems with my battery before.

I already did the HP battery checks, in HP support assistant and also outside of Windows, but the battery checks say the battery is OK. I also tried calibrating the battery by charging it and then running the extensive memory check on repeat, but this didn't work.

Here are the results of the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics tool:

Hi @JeroenRouwhorst ,

I wrote a tutorial in which I explained how to invoke Windows battery-report utility. The utility will enable you to make a far better decision on the battery issue.  See the link below this line for the article in the Notebook Knowledge base.

https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebooks-Knowledge-Base/Is-your-notebook-plugged-in-and-not-charging/...

Based on the information you have provided, my take is that your battery is probably a few years old and near the end of its service life.

If you will copy and paste the battery-report test log I will be able to assist you in making a decision on whether or not to replace the original battery with a new one.

I also reside in the Netherlands.

The link below this line is for sources for replacement guaranteed compatible batteries for your notebook battery. with some decent prices.

The best price I found is at the link below this line

Hi,

In the article I suggested saving the web document as text after opening it in a browser.

I don't see it at all now. It would help if you copy and pasted the text from the web document you saved as text.

@JeroenRouwhorst,

Thanks. the battery looks good by the numbers of the battery-report log.

Unfortunately the numbers from the battery test you first provided  do show something  a bit different.

Primary_DesignCapacity: 5700mAh
Primary_FullChargeCapacity: 3872mAh
Primary_RemainingCapacity: 3849mAh
Primary_MaxError: 1 Primary_CycleCount: 336

That is a pretty high cycle count and difference between the design capacity and the current battery capacity in milliamp hours.. Those numbers are about the only things that tells me the battery may be nearing the end of its service life.
