I have the same issue here. When my Hp is plugged in and I press ont he power button, the power button lights up for a split second then goes off. I have to press repeticiously then eventually it powers on. When I remove the AC adapter the computer shuts off immediately. The charger doesn't even feel warm. I ran Hp diagnostics pressing f2 on my keyboard during the boot process. I tested everything. The battery, and every component. Everything PASSED. Although I did see something printed in red at the bottom of my battery test results that said if the laptop powers off when on AC power then replace the battery. But it still said it passed. I am really confused here.

I recently contacted HP tech support about my HP Envy not working without being plugged in. After a frustrating back and forth about the warranty on my laptop being expired, they said I had to purchase a new battery. Conveniently for HP they apparently don't make batteries for my laptop anymore but they were nice enough to give me the phone number of an independent seller.
I called the independent seller recommended by HP and paid $95 for a new battery. The "new" battery didn't last even a week. The idependent seller says that there is something wrong with the mother board on my HP. HP says I need a new battery but that, bottom line, it's not their problem.
Well, I paid about $750 for my laptop + $95 for a new battery and in return I got a laptop that doesn't work to my satisfaction.
My wife bought a MacBook Air in 2011 and NEVER, EVER has she had any issues with it. Well, she spilled Sprite on it about a year ago and the trackpad seemed to stick. She took it to the Apple store at the mall, and an hour and $100 later we walked out of there with a 'like-new" laptop. Some of you may be inclined to think that some, or all, of what I posted is not trued but it is.
Instead of buying another new battery, I'll save to get a Mac. If it sounds like I'm fishing for an appology from HP or something just as lame, I am not. I am done with HP.

I am having this same issue.
Battery diagonstic gives everything a pass.
If I pull the plug, it powers down.
Thank you for your help, HP.
Looking forward to having this issue with my HP Pavilion TS 15 Notebook PC
