HP Power Pavilion 15-cx0675nd
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello,

Unfortunately I lost the original power-supply of my HP laptop.

Buying a new, original HP power-supply is way too expensive, so I bought an replacement adapter.

The webshop where I bought my laptop told me buying a replacement adapter that's not an original HP is fine, as long as voltage, amperage and wattage is the same. The one I bought has exactly the same specifiactions as the original one, but when I plug in the power-supply my pc immidiately slows down to a frustrating level. I can't play games higher than like 5 FPS or watch videos. I get the following message when I plug in my power-supply:

(roughtly translated from Dutch)

"HP offers a wide choice of Smart power-supply adapters as replacement or extra power-supply when on the road. These and other accessoires can be purchasted at selected dealers.

The connected Smart adapter supplies power to the computer, but possibly works on a lower performancelevel. The computer adapts the performancelevel where neccecery, when a Smart adapter with less power is connected. Task that require a lot of systemsources may cause the computer to not perform optimal when a power-supply with less power is connected. Connect a power-supply with more power to get better performance."

As I said, the replacement power-supply has the exact same specifiactions, so it shouldnt slow down my laptop.

What can I do to make my laptop perform as it should?

Thanks in advance.

Regards,

David

Welcome to HP Support Forums. A really great platform for posting all your questions and finding solutions.

I have gone through your Post and I understand your concerns

This is clearly an issue with the AC Adapter. This message indicates the AC adapter is providing enough power to use your computer, but not enough power to deliver expected performance.

I would request you to purchase an original HP Ac Adapter
