Hi @Bigsc12,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I hear you are facing charging issues with your HP Laptop 17-cn003dx.

If the battery still refuses to charge, try these specific troubleshooting steps:

1. Hard Reset (EC Reset):

This fixes the majority of HP charging glitches by draining the motherboard's residual power.

  1. Shut down your HP 17-cn003dx completely.

  2. Unplug the AC charging cord from the laptop.

  3. Unplug any connected USB drives, mice, or external devices.

  4. Press and hold the power button for 25 to 30 seconds.

  5. Plug the charger back into the laptop, and then try turning it on.

2. Check the Hardware:

Ensure the issue isn't a faulty cord or bad wall socket:

  • The Wall Outlet: Plug a lamp or phone charger into the wall outlet to ensure the socket is actively providing power.

  • Physical Inspection: Trace the length of your power cord and AC adapter brick. Look for any visible fraying, severe kinks, exposed wires, or warping.

  • The Charging Port: Look inside the charging port on the side of the laptop. Ensure there are no bent pins, dust, or lint blocking the connection.

3. Reinstall Battery Drivers:

Sometimes Windows fails to recognise the charger due to a software or driver glitch.

  1. Click the Windows Start button, type Device Manager, and press Enter.

  2. Click the arrow to expand the Batteries section.

  3. Right-click on Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery and select Uninstall device.

  4. Restart your laptop. Windows will automatically reinstall the driver when it boots back up.

I hope this will help.

Take care and have a good day.

I'm an HP Employee.
