The SD card reader and the USB port on the right side of the laptop and the USB port on the left side of the laptop are not functioning. However the back USB port on the left sides works with no problems. This has been an on going problem and the laptop has been returned to HP 3x now for this problem. Upon getting the laptop back, the reader and ports function for 1-2 weeks and then again fail.
Before contacting Support and probably having to send the laptop in again, would like to know if anyone has suggestions to fix the problem I can try myself.
The reader and ports are shown in device manager. Have deleted and reinstalled with no success. Have installed all updates available for the laptop.
Thanks!

Reinstall the chipset driver and the media card reader driver.
The chipset driver is part of the Graphics driver softpaq.

By USB drive do you mean a SATA hard disk that is in a hard disk enclosure?
