Hello! My HP Pavillion 14-dw1000 won't power on after shutting down unless I take out the battery, hold down the power button, then return the battery. Right before this first happened, I'd noticed that my computer was running very slowly and I had to hold down the power button multiple times to start my computer. I'd thought it was a battery issue, but my battery life and charging is the same as always and the HP Support Assistant says my battery is normal. I also get an error on every startup saying the CMOS checksum is invalid. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Hi @weakestkakapo,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP laptop won't power on after shutting down, there are a few possible causes. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can take.
- Check the power source: Make sure your laptop is connected to a power source and that the power source is working properly. Try plugging the laptop into a different outlet or using a different power cable.
- Reset the laptop: Try resetting the laptop by disconnecting it from the power source and removing the battery (if possible). Hold down the power button for 15-20 seconds, then release it. Reconnect the power source and try turning on the laptop again.
- Check the battery: If your laptop has a removable battery, make sure it is properly installed and charged. If the battery is old or damaged, it may need to be replaced.
- Check the RAM: If the laptop's RAM is not functioning properly, it may prevent the laptop from turning on. Try removing the RAM and reinserting it. If that doesn't work, try using a different RAM module.
- Check for hardware issues: If none of the above steps work, there may be an issue with the laptop's hardware. This could be a problem with the motherboard, processor, or other components. You may need to take the laptop to a professional for repairs.
In regards to the issue specifically mentioned, where the laptop will only power on after the battery is removed and reinserted, this could be caused by a hardware issue with the battery or the laptop's power management system.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
