Can I update my graphics card?

From Amd firepro w5170m to any graphics card above

I happen to have a Zbook 15 G3 and yes the video card is removeable and theoretically upgradeable. The BIOS limits what you can install and your AMD video card has a heatsink assembly that is slightly different than an nVidia. What would you like to try to install?

  • I want to try amd fierpro w7170m OR It is possible to show me the higher categories of graphics card available for my zbook  15 g3

This is what I have in mine. nVidia M2000M:

 

M2000M MXM video cardM2000M MXM video card

 

Firepro W5170M you have now:

 

W5170MW5170M

 

W7170M

 

W7170MW7170M

 

The W7170M is larger and likely will not fit.

The video card is removeable and replaceable. Here is the Service Manual:

If you go from an AMD card to nVidia you need a different heatsink. M2000M is a bit more powerful than the AMD card you have now:
