Has anyone had experience of the left hand hinge of their HP Envy Notebook, becoming unhinged and if so, what did you do to address the issue.
This is the second time this has happened and then I replaced the laptop, with my current one only for the same thing to happen again. This particular notebook I bought in 2022, it will be 3 years in February.
I have taken great care of the laptop, owing to previous experience with another laptop, I have been particularly careful in how i open and close it.
It always seems to be the left hand side, i wonder if there is a general product defect.
I am tempted to report to watchdog for them to investigate as it seems too coincidental that even in the forums all or most of the issues raised relating to this specific problem is on the same side of the notebook (left).
I don't want to have to buy a new notebook, so any advice / guidance you can provide on how you have navigated this issue would be greatly appreciated.
Thanking you in anticipation...

Hi @DEBORAHAM,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be happy to help you!
I understand that this is a Hardware issue. Since the unit might need repair, I would request you to contact HP Phone support who can schedule a repair as per the warranty and the issue can be fixed.
For that to happen, we will give you additional instructions/information via Private Message.
Please check your inbox on the forums page for the private message.
Please mark this post as “Accepted Solution” if the issue is resolved and if you feel this reply was helpful click “Yes”.

Yes, exact same issue - I have a HP Envy also purchased in 2022. This is also the second time my laptop's L hinge has broken. 1st time was under warranty, so no problems, but this time as it is out of warranty (but not out of the Australian Consumer Law's timeframe), HP are really dragging their feet. Discussions with their 'support team' are ongoing and taking forever.

Thanks MKnow22. Quite frustrating. I can't believe HP have not looked into a better product design rather than continue to market and sell a sub-standard device.
I have seen posts relating to the same issue since 2014!!!
I hope you get a resolution soon, I am trying to get mine fixed, but i need my laptop for work and apparently my laptop will need to be sent away to get fixed.
Exhausting.... !!!
