Microsoft Windows 11

The left hinge on my laptop is completely broken. I epoxied it a couple of months ago but it broke again. I didn’t think to look if I had a warranty at the time, but when I did look, it was a 3 year warranty and it’s been a little over 3 1/2 years. I would still think that for the money I paid for this product that it would last way longer than 3 1/2 years for sure. The back of the monitor is cracked also. Even though the computer still works, it’s very difficult to open and close, I’ve had several HP products and have always been satisfied, but not this time. I also have a few Gateway and Lenovo computers in my household and even though they are a lot older, their hinges still work like they are supposed to. It would be very nice if you could somehow help me with this problem. Unfortunately I do notice on the community that this problem seems to be a pretty widespread and common problem with HP laptop hinges.
Thank you for your help.

Hi @rmacinc,

Welcome to the HP support community.

I’m really sorry you’re dealing with a broken hinge and a cracked display back. I completely understand how disappointing that is, especially after investing in a device and expecting it to last longer. We appreciate the clear details you shared about the model and warranty timing that helps.

What we can do (upfront)

We can check your specific machine and let you know what repair and service options are available. That said, we can’t promise coverage or specific outcomes until we verify the laptop’s Service Tag/serial number, purchase date, and the photos of the damage. We want to avoid giving you incorrect information.

To investigate and provide the most accurate next steps, please send these items privately (do not post them publicly):

Please help us with your HP unit serial number or the product number in a private message for further assistance.
