I am looking to replace the Real Time Clock batter on a Spectre x360 Convertible. 15-df series.  Looking for information as to where it is so I can keep disassembling to a minimum.  Thanks in advance.

It's been some time since they used a separate battery for the RTC. They use the main battery for it now. I can't really tell unless you provide the full model number.

Here is your Service Guide- http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c06422405.pdf

I skimmed through it and found no RTC battery. Have you done a full diagnostic on the battery? This is assuming you are losing RTC settings.

The laptop is in an endless loop rebooting.  I removed the battery and then on start, I got  the message that

The CMOS checksum is invalid and will be rebooted.  Please check your BIOS setup options to sif they change

CM Reset (502)

Saw a lot of information that changing out the RTC battery would fix.  Any suggestions?

Sounds like something got scrambled, you did well resetting the bios by pulling the battery. It will set all bios settings to default, including the RTC. Go into bios and set the clock then save settings. This is normal anytime you clear cmos by removing the battery.

Does the laptop boot now? If not take a picture of where it gets stuck, error messages etc. and post it here and we'll get you back up and running.
