Hi,

I am trying to log onto my computer (Chromebook) as the owner. I already have an account on this computer (as owner). I am using my [Edited] account but it keeps coming up with an error “Something Went Wrong”. The password is correct- I just tried it on my normal [Edited] account; and I reset it and waited 2 days to try again. I have tried the other forms, such as a passkey and logging in with the camera option. I keep getting the same error code. I only get a different error code when I enter the password wrong. I have updated it and reset it multiple times now. I am not sure what else to do to get in, I am stuck using a “guest” account. It’s a relatively “new computer” I got it in May of 2024. But the subscription tech support wants is worth more than the computer.
please help!

Hi @name1234561,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Sorry for the inconvenience caused don’t worry let me help you.

To better understand the issue, could you please provide a few more details?

  • The exact error code or message that appears when you try to log in.
  • Whether your Chromebook is connected to a stable Wi-Fi network during login.
  • If you’ve recently changed any account settings (such as two-step verification or recovery options) on your Google account.
  • Whether other accounts (non-owner) can log in successfully on the same device.

In the meantime, here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try:

 Check Internet Connection

  • Ensure your Chromebook is connected to a strong and stable Wi-Fi network. Login errors often occur if the device cannot reach Google’s servers.

Try Guest Mode & Add Account Again

  • Since you can access Guest mode, try signing into your Google account from there via Chrome browser. If successful, remove and re-add your account under Settings > Accounts.

Factory Reset

  • If the issue persists, consider performing a Factory Reset. Go to Settings > Advanced > Reset Settings > Powerwash. This will reset the Chromebook to factory settings, but you can re-sync your data once you log back in with your Google account.

I hope this helps.
