HP Omen Laptop 17

Hi

We tried to format the hard drive and forgot to back up windows and original drivers for laptop : OMEN by HP 17-CB0XXX

Omen is from 2014.

Seems like it did mess up things and we are looking for the original factory OS and SW it came with to restore it back to full function.

Sadly, whenever we try to put the Serial Number we have in the HP database to look for OS/SW/drivers, we cannot find anything for it. We used the cmd to check the serial number of the laptop. Right now the battery only lasts one hour.

We need two things:

  1. Original factory OS and SW it came with (like ISO image)
  2. Any tips to allow battery to live long

Any help will be appreciated.

Thank you

Since you have Windows installed on the PC, it may still be supported by the HP cloud recovery tool to make a bootable USB recovery drive that will reinstall Windows, the drivers and the software that originally came with your notebook.

Here is an info link for how to use the utility.  You will need a 32 GB USB flash drive for this.

You can download the software from the Micrsoft Store:

HP Cloud Recovery Tool - Free download and install on Windows | Microsoft Store

If your notebook is no longer supported by this utility, there is a vendor that sells the original HP factory recovery media for older model HP desktop and notebook PC's, but you are going to have to figure out what product number your PC has.

If the custom ISO image depends on where you live, whether anyone has one. Or HP technicians also have custom ISO images.

Mostly, the default Windows OS installation ISO image, no custom. For drivers, if they are not available on the official HP website, you can use third-party software, like this Driver Easy Pro (use silent.install.cmd to install it)

For other software, you can search for it yourself according to your needs.

For Windows and Office licenses, the licenses are usually digital, synchronized with your Microsoft account as well.

Hi, @IF9

Enter your PC's serial number in the search window at the link below and post the product number that shows up.

HP PartSurfer

Once I have the product number, I will see what your options are to obtain the original HP factory image that came with your laptop.

Hi,

Thank you Paul

I put in the serial number then I tried the product ID but both returned NO results.

You're very welcome.

Is there a product number in the BIOS or a specific model number beyond what you posted?

When I use command prompt,  I get the name "OMEN by HP Laptop 17-cb0xxx"

How can i get product number from the BIOS as I have a temporary windows 11 installed?

HP Recommended

OK, if you have W11 installed, you can easily find the product number of your PC.

To find the product number for your PC, click on the search icon on your Windows taskbar.

Type: System Information

The System information app should show up.

Run the app and the product number of your PC will be found on the System SKU line about 1/4 of the way down on the report.

Sorry about the delay. When we try to do as you said we didn't get the same results (window) as we get for windows 10 machines. It did not give us any SKU number. It gave us a product number but still that product number also didn't give any results in the HP search.
