HP Pavilion - 15-cc610ms
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello, I was researching how to upgrade my laptop/improve performance and I happened to notice that the Intel® Rapid Storage Technology app showed my main SSD Drive AND a second empty internal port. So I opened my laptop up and to my surprise there is a slot for an M.2 SSD chip. So I purchased a 500gb Samsung 980 NVMe M.2 SSD and put it in the slot and screwed it down. Started up the laptop and it booted the same way it always does. Tried to find the new SSD but there is absolutely no sign of it anywhere. I've tried Device manager, Disk manager, Command prompt, BIOS settings (BIOS is extremely limited, the ONLY thing I can change is the boot order, time & date and secure boot on/off. NO ADVANCED OPTIONS WHATSOEVER). I've searched the web and read EVERY single "solution" there is but none of them work. The new SSD simply does not register at all, nowhere on the system. So I'm wondering, is there any way to check if the M.2 slot is functional on my laptop... or is there anyway to "unlock" advanced settings for BIOS to enable the M.2 slot?

Or is there a certain Driver I need to download from HP to allow M.2 SSD to be read/used?

Or is there a procedure to activate the M.2 slot/drive?

My main drive is an HP S700 Pro 2.5' SSD (SATA), and I am trying to add a Samsung 980 NVMe M.2 SSD on the M.2 Slot directly on the motherboard.

Please someone help me figure this out... Why wont it connect..?

You're very welcome.

The 500 GB WD Blue M.2 SATA SSD provides the best performance for the price, in my opinion.
