Hello, i tried inatalling a m.2 ssd on my HP PAVILLION CC738TX. But it seems that it cant read it. Thia is the photo of the m.2 ssd. What seems to be the problem. Please help me.

Hi:

 

That makes no difference,

 

All M.2 slots look like they support NVMe drives.

 

The SATA drive with two notches will fit just fine in that slot.

 

You have to read the service manuals for any PC you plan on installing a M.2 SSD to see what type they support.

 

Some support SATA only like your notebook.  Some support NVMe only, and some support both.

Hi:

 

The reason that drive didn't work is because it is NVMe and your notebook's M.2 slot only supports SATA.

 

See chapter 1 of the service manual for the supported drive types...

Yes, that is what I am saying.

 

There is nothing to prevent a M.2 SATA SSD with two notches from fitting and working in the M.2 slot with one key.

 

The second notch in the SATA M.2 SSD just doesn't use those contacts in the M.2 slot where it goes.
