Hi, @Sugu17

If your notebook has the AMD Ryzen processor, it may support a NVMe SSD.

I believe there are some 255 G7's (15.6" display version of yours) with the Ryzen processors that came with NVMe SSD's and the service manual makes no mention of NVMe SSD's as being supported.

If it has an AMD 'A' series processor, the slot only supports SATA SSD's.

A lot of misinformation floating around about M.2. All M.2 slots are physically the same in appearance. 2 chambers. The slot is not keyed; the SSD is keyed.

Your Service Manual

Only SATA M.2 SSDs are listed as compatible in the Manual for your model. So NVME will not work.

But even the hp 14s which i suppose has a older generation motherboard than mine supports nvme, i doubt the service manual only mentions the ssds that comes with the laptop not the actual compatible ones, sorry if am wrong,Can you help me on this one please?

Thanks a lot for responding mate, None of the online shopping sites in my region offer return policy for ssds, i just wanted to make sure i buy the right one, I wish the HP manual had some more information about the interface.

You're very welcome.

I am thinking of buying a WD SN550 nvme ssd,Do you have any suggestions?

HP Recommended

Yes, I think that would be a good choice.

Amazon, India doesn't take returns in case the drive doesn't work?

Yes that's what worries me a lot, Is there any way to confirm nvme support in bios?

HP Recommended

No, there isn't any way that I know of.

If your notebook has a Ryzen processor, NVMe should work from what I have read.

Do not attempt to experiment with a NVMe SSD if your notebook as an A9, A6, or A4 processor.

Those motherboards support SATA SSD's only.
