I searched my Serial number in HP and find the product detail as
OMEN by HP 15-ax248tx Laptop PC. Product information in HP website says RAM is 8 GB DDR4-2400 SDRAM (2 x 4 GB).
From my system information from windows i see MY RAM is 8GB . So i assume my laptop having 2 slot each with 4GB RAM.
Is there anyway we can know how many RAM in each slot without opening the back ?
I am planning to upgrade RAM. How much max RAM i can put in one SLOT, which DDR and MHz max my laptop support.
Could someone please tell me

Hi, @Rashi_Human
Since your notebook has an Intel® Core™ i5-7300HQ processor, those processors will normally support 2 x 16 GB of DDR4-2400 memory, and the Crucial memory report for the model series indicates the same.
HP - Compaq HP OMEN 15t-ax200 CTO | Memory RAM & SSD Upgrades | Crucial.com
You can install DDR4-2400, 2666 or 3200 MHz memory but it will only run at 2400 MHz because that is the fastest speed your notebook's processor can run the memory at.
I noticed that DDR4-2400 memory is very expensive in India, so you may want to install the DDR4-2666 MHz chip.
This is the 16 GB model of the 4 GB DDR42666 MHz chip listed in the above report that Crucial indicates is compatible.
This is the 8 GB model of the 4 GB DDR4-2666 MHz chip listed in the above report that Crucial indicates is compatible.
You can also do this to see how much memory your notebook can support:
1. In the search box, search for cmd and click Run as administrator.
This will open the command prompt.
2. Once command prompt is opened, type wmic memphysical get maxcapacityEx and hit enter.
There, it will show the maximum RAM capacity your PC's motherboard can support.
The capacity is shown as Kilobytes, so you have to convert it to Gigabytes by dividing the number provided in the report by 1,048,576.
Below is the link to the service manual where you can find the memory removal and replacement procedure.

The maximum memory that can be installed is 16GB

You can use the Hardware Info utility to find out everything that is in your notebook.

Thanks for the quick answer. Sorry for more question as am planning to buy from online in India i would like to make sure not buying the wrong one.
I installed HP support Assistant and got below information.
So i should purchase only DDR4 RAM?
When i search for RAM I see 3200MHz . Is 3200Mhz is the maximum it supports ?
Also instead of buying two 8 GB RAM, If i buy one 8GB DDR RAM 3200Mhz and use one existing 4GB Samsung 2400MHz , Will the 8GB DDR RAM 3200Mhz defaults to 2400MHz ? I see online somewhere that it will reduce
Lastly can I buy single 16GB RAM and put in one slot, Make the other Slot empty or we have to put like 8GB each slot.
Thanks in Advance.

Thank you so much for the details informtion along with indian buying link.
Sorry for the late response.
My model is HP 15-Ax248tx but the link you provided is for HP OMEN 15t-ax200 CTO. I can use the sugestion from crucial for HP OMEN 15t-ax200 CTO in HP 15-Ax248tx
Actually i tried scan option from the crucial but it couldnt find thatswhy i asked question in this forum.
This link https://www.crucial.in/compatible-upgrade-for/hp-compaq/hp-omen-15-ax248tx says 16GB max
Currently I am planning to buy 16GB RAM and use the existing 4gb in one slot. But if above link says 16GB maximum, Can't i use 16GB in on slot and 4GB in other slot?
I tried playing days gone PC. i felt stutters, that's one of the reason I am buying RAM. Loading time for the game also high.
Could you please let me know the SSD model also which one should buy. i would go for 512mb internal ssd now

You're very welcome.
The HP OMEN 15t-ax200 CTO would cover the entire model series including your notebook.
Did you run command to see how much memory your notebook can support?
If the report indicates you can install 32 GB of memory (which it should), you can use a 16 GB chip in one slot along with the 4 GB chip.
For a NVMe SSD, I recommend the Samsung 980 (not 980 Pro), or the Western Digital Blue SN570.
