OMEN 15-dc0010nq
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I installed the "Recomanded" update to the ME (HP Consumer Desktop / Notebook PC ME Firmware Update (For Coffee Lake Processors Only).

The results around and above >1100 Cinebench ARE GONE! The FAN Rams Up to late and the CPU throttling to big.. and I read about the update (mostly security) and refering to a vulnerability (a remote user can gain acces to the laptop if previusly they had acces to an usb port) .. is my home laptop!!! Don't need your upgrade!

HP please label the updates that are going to impact performance!!!

How can I downgrade the ME (to the default it came with), HP didn't put an downgrade or the original ME online as a BIOS has..?

@Mirceac,

Thank you for showing your interest in HP Support Forums. It is a great place to find the help you need, from other users, HP experts, and other support personnel. I see from your post you have a concern related to ME Firmware update on yuor HP notebook.

To provide you with an accurate solution, I'll need a few more details:

Could you let me know where did you read about the vulnerability? Could you please share the screenshot as this will help me in better understanding the issue and provide you with the accurate steps which should help you resolve this issue.

In the meantime, let's try these steps here:

Let's start off by performing a Hard reset on the notebook

Before power resetting your computer, do the following:

  1. Disconnect or remove all peripheral devices. Start up the laptop and test the computer by itself, and then reconnect one peripheral device at a time.

  2. Turn over the computer and look for a battery compartment door.

I recommend to restore the BIOS defaults. You could restore the BIOS with this document selecting the reloading the BIOS default settings. That way it will look at the Hardware installed on the Notebook.

Once done, restart the computer and check.

Next thing, I would suggest here is to Run Windows Updates troubleshooter -

Download and install the troubleshooter from this link.

Now try to perform Windows Updates -

1) In the search box, type and open Windows Updates.
2) Check for updates.
3) If the updates are available, click on install and restart the computer.

If the issue persists, I would suggest here is to update the Bios, Chipset, Intel Management Engine Interface (MEI) Driver(Winodws 10 v1809) and Intel Dynamic Platform and Thermal Framework Client Driver(Windows 10 v1809) on your PC from our HP support website, using this link

Could you please respond to this post with the details and with the results of the troubleshooting as this will help me in further assisting you.

Eagerly waiting for your response!

that said, If the information I've provided was helpful,

give us some reinforcement by clicking the solution and kudos buttons,

that'll help us and others see that we've got the answers!

Good Luck.
