Making an exact clone of KINGSTON 128 GB M.2 SSD

For my cousin's laptop - I want to make an exact clone of a Kingston 128 GB M.2 SSD. The one in the laptop, and also the new one, says: SNS8350DES3, but the " L " numbers are different.
The one in the laptop says: L22728-001. The new SSD says: L50361-001. What is the difference, if any?

I don't believe that there is a major difference.

They're both 128 GB TLC (Triple Layer Cell) SATA SSDs.

I have to ask...why didn't your cousin take the opportunity to upgrade the M.2 SATA SSD to a much faster performing M.2 NVMe SSD having a greater storage capacity?

My objective is to clone my cousin’s SSD to another SSD .

( as a backup )

I did so on a WD M.2 1TB NVME SSD, but when I went to test it - It failed.

When I physically compared the two drives,

I noticed that they were physically different.

I called WD and they referred me to HP.

The original hard drive is a Kingston M.2 SSD

so I contacted Kingston, but Kingston said

they don’t sell that SSD, that it was produced

for HP laptops.

This Kingston SSD is a SATA SSD -

the WD SSD is an NVME SSD.

Kingston referred me to crucial and micron,

but weren’t sure if I would be successful.

I contacted Micro Center, who sold me the

WD SSD, and they also referred me to HP.

They advised that it’s a SATA, which they don’t sell.

I found a replacement SSD online
( SNS8350DES3 ) ,

but the " L " numbers are different.

I think the "L" number is a part number, or a model number,

but I don't know if there is a difference.

You're very welcome. 

Cloning from a SATA to NVMe SSD doesn't always work because they use totally different drive controllers.

This is the only information I found in the HP Partsurfer pages:
L22728-001      SSD 128GB M2 SATA3 TLC
L50361-001      128GB M.2 2280 SATA 350DE SS TLC Kdg

I've known that they are similar, but don't know how they are different.

I'm assuming there is a difference, but I still don't know what that difference Is.

Perhaps the "SS" and the "Kdg" indicates the differences.

I'm still looking for answers.
