My Spectre 13-aw0054na is still on BIOS F.13 because neither F.14 or F.15 will install.
"There is not enough free disk space..."
I've searched the forums and found the procudure for installing from a USB drive, but there's a problem.
My system board is 86FA but the available images are 86F9 and 8688.
F.13 installed from Windows in the usual manner, so I investigated.
I set up a USB drive for installing F.13 and the available images are 86F9 and 8688 - just the same as F14 and F.15.
I know one of them must work - I've already installed this update from the very same file.
Which image do I select for F.15?

I had (and still have) the same question.
I just tried 86F9 (1st 3 letters were the same...) and it seemed to work.
The automatic upgrade would not work (not enough disk space...), just like for you.
My setup is not special. I even undid bitlocker.
You'd expect HP not to stumble on such a basic (and important) thing.....

Thank you for posting on HP Support Community.
Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, I have a few troubleshooting steps we could try to fix the issue:
Firstly, perform Windows Update and HP Support Assistant: (do not skip any troubleshooting steps if you feel steps are repeating)
To check for updates now, select the Start button, and then go to Settings > Update & security > Windows Update, and select Check for updates.
Install updates from HP Support Assistant: Go to Download HP Support Assistant to install the tool.
- To open HP Support Assistant, double-click the HP Support Assistant icon
.
- Click My devices in the top menu, and then click Updates in the My PC or My notebook pane.
- Click Check for updates and messages to scan for new updates.
- Review the list of updates. Updates with a yellow information icon are recommended. Updates with a blue information icon are optional.
- Click the update name for a description, version number, and file size.
- Select the box next to any updates you want to install, and then click Download and install.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
Please click “Accept as Solution” if you feel my post solved your issue, it will help others find the solution.

Hi!
I did windows update, and I'm using the HP Support Assistant.
I kept getting the error "There is not enough free disk space..." when installing. I have tons of space.
I seem to now be the only one.
I then did it manually, but was faced to a decision between 2 files. Please see the correspondence above.
Everything seems to work, but this wasn't supposed to happen.

@Echo_Lake
I'm afraid that doesn't work.
Even with all Windows Updates installed, all the HP Support Assistant does is to try to install the exact same update from within Windows. As you would expect, it fails in the exact same way, with the insufficient disk space error.
The only solution available is to follow the procedure under Update the BIOS manually from a USB Flash drive (outside of Windows) from this HP page: https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c00042629
The problem with this is detailed in my first post. Perhaps you should read it again.

Ramy, you're a hero. 😀
I thought about installing 86F9 but I didn't want to take the chance without exhausting all the other options.
Since it worked for you, I did it anyway. It worked perfectly - at least as far as I can see.
Thank you very much!
