need help with adding a ssd hard drive to a 17 laptop cannot bring up manual for this hp product

HP only has the service manual for the older 17-by1xxx model series.

HP 17 Laptop PC Maintenance and Service Guide

Hopefully, the disassembly procedure is the same for your notebook.

What I really need parts # to add a regular hhd or ssd this laptop did not come with a regular hhd but with a M.2 ssd. Next ?? is where to find these parts? HP says that these parts are used in over two hundred models. Forgot add that the older 17 laptop videos also have the optic drive where the newer 17 laptop do not.

Chapter 3, page 23 of the manual has the list of parts you need to add a 2.5" drive.

The parts are on backorder.

At those prices, I would just buy a larger capacity M.2 SSD and replace the 256 GB NVMe SSD your notebook came with.

You could buy a Samsung 980 1 GB NVMe SSD for $100.

Upgrading the M.2 ssd is probably the best way to go.
