I need to know he max RAM I can install on this Laptop and some recommendations on where to buy good RAM.

Hi:

 

Below is the link to the service manual for your notebook.

 

Maintenance and Service Guide (hp.com)

 

Chapter 1 has the memory upgrade info.

 

According to the manual, your notebook has two memory slots and can support up to 2 x 8 GB of DDR4-3200 memory.

 

If you want to see if your notebook can support more memory than what is indicated in the manual, you can run the following command:

 

1. In the search box, search for cmd and click Run as administrator.

 

This will open the command prompt.

 

2. Once command prompt is opened, type wmic memphysical get maxcapacityEx and hit enter.

 

There, it will show the maximum RAM capacity your PC's motherboard can support.

 

The capacity is shown as Kilobytes, so you have to convert it to Gigabytes by dividing the number provided in the report by 1,048,576.

 

If the report indicates that you can install 32 GB of memory, this should be a compatible 16 GB memory chip for your notebook.

 

Crucial 16GB DDR4-3200 SODIMM | CT16G4SFRA32A | Crucial.com

 

If the report indicates the same as the manual, then this should be a compatible 8 GB memory chip.
