I need to determine the max RAM a HP Notebook - 14-dk0002dx can support.
- How many memory slots are on the motherboard?
- What is the max MHz it can support?
- Can you use RAM that has a higher MHz than the motherboard supports? (aka, if you put in 2400mhz and it can only run 1866mhz, will it just run the faster RAM at the slower speed? or does that cause a problem?)
- What is the max GB it can support?
Also, I can't find any info on the motherboard for this computer. Anybody know the model #/manufacturer/name of the motherboard in a HP Notebook - 14-dk0002dx?
Thanks in advance!

Here is the Manual:
The Manual says two inconsistent things. It says A9 CPU models support dual channel memory but only have one memory slot. Both can't be true. I believe your model has two memory slots and can handle up to 2 x 8 gig DDR4-2400 SO-DIMM modules. So a total of 16 GB is the maximum. The system will downclock them to 1866 mhz and there is nothing you can do about that. 1866 is the fastest the memory can run. Buy DDR4-2400 SO-DIMM for upgrade, however.
The motherboard is HP. Laptop motherboards are specific to the laptop model and we do not think of the motherboard as a separate thing from the laptop itself. All the info HP provides is in the Service Manual linked above.
Post back with any more questions and please accept as solution if this is the info you needed.

Thanks so much for your reply! I have an unneeded 8GB DDR4 2666MHz SO-DIMM on hand. If I installed it, would the computer adjust it down to 1866MHz and would it be safe?
Also, if I installed the 2666MHz SO-DIMM, I'm assuming I would need to remove and not use the SO-DIMM that comes with the unit because they're different speeds. Is that correct?
Thanks again so much for your help!

I believe you can go ahead and install the 2666 module with the existing module and both will run at 1866. This is a guess on my part since the Manual does not specifically say so but HP provides 2666 modules on many of its laptops that downclock it significantly. So it is a very educated guess.
