ProBook 450 G4

I would like to upgrade my memory on

my Laptop. I already purchased

8gig module to add to my 4gig

I now have 12gig memory

When speaking to support they

said I could only upgrade to

16gig.

Yet I understand that

some laptops like mine

go up to 32gig

please anyone can confirm

Thank You

The HP ProBook 450 G4 officially supports up to 16GB of DDR4 RAM across its two SODIMM slots. Support agents correctly informed you of the 16GB cap.

Your current 12GB (4GB+8GB) setup runs in dual-channel mode partially, which is fine but suboptimal. For best results, replace the 4GB stick with another 8GB (same speed/timings as your existing module using CPU-Z) to hit 16GB fully dual-channel.

Upgrading beyond 16GB to 32GB (using 2x16GB modules) is unofficial and at your own risk, some users report success, while others face boot issues, instability, or unrecognized capacity due to chipset/BIOS limits. If you still opt for higher-capacity modules like 2x16GB for 32GB total, then ensure all other specs match your existing 8GB stick exactly
