Hello! I own the HP Pavilion dv6-7057er (Product number: B3N26EA) laptop.
On HP Support site I can't find any information about maximum memory (RAM) limit allowed for the motherboard of my laptop.

Product's specs only contain a general information about the default configuration supplied "from the box".
This laptop has 2 DIMM slots with 4 Gb RAM device per slot. So, 8 Gb RAM in summary.
Here are some specs of my laptop to be precise in further speaking (obtained from AIDA64):
CPU Type: Mobile QuadCore Intel Core i7-3610QM, 2500 MHz (25 x 100)
Motherboard Name: Hewlett-Packard HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook PC
Motherboard Chipset: Intel Panther Point HM77, Intel Ivy Bridge
System Memory: 8091 MB (DDR3-1600 DDR3 SDRAM)
BIOS Type: Insyde (05/02/2012)
North Bridge: Intel Ivy Bridge-MB IMC
Intel Platform: Chief River
Supported Memory Types: DDR3-1066, DDR3-1333, DDR3-1600, DDR3-1866 SDRAM
Maximum Memory Amount: 32 GB

Some commerce sites say that the maximum limit is 8 Gb RAM (as it goes "from the box"). But that's not the official specs there though, I can't trust that info.
On the other hand, AIDA64 software says that the Chipset, e.g. the North Bridge of the motherboard, supports up to 32 GB RAM with following types: DDR3-1066, DDR3-1333, DDR3-1600, DDR3-1866 SDRAM.

So the question is:
What is the real maximum memory (RAM) limit of the motherboard?
Can I plug in more memory than 8 Gb? (with supported types DDR3-1066, DDR3-1333, DDR3-1600, DDR3-1866 SDRAM)

Hi:

The max is 16 GB.

See the service manual, chapter 1, page 4 for the memory upgrade info...

http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c03582006

Yes, the chipset can support up to 32 GB of memory but the memory slots can only take up to a max of 8 GB.

Only some high end HP business mobile workstation notebooks have 4 memory slots to handle up to 32 GB of memory in notebooks with the same chipset as yours.
