@Sommy,

Welcome to our HP User Forum!

According to: c03382696.pdf (hp.com), that would be the Intel Quad Core i7-840QM (1.86 GHz to 3.06 GHz in turbo mode, 4-Cores, 8-Threads):

[EDIT:] Theoretically, if you don't mind me mentioning it [DISCLAIMER: stepping a little bit outside the HP Reservation!] according to: CPU-Upgrade: Intel Core i7-840QM CPU, the Intel Quad Core i7-920XM (2.00 GHz to 3.20 GHz, 4-Cores, 8-Threads) and the Intel Quad Core i7-940XM (2.13 GHz to 3.33 GHz, 4-Cores, 8-Threads) should be compatible too.  These processors sport only a relatively higher TDP of 55 watt, vs. 45 watt for the i7-840XM:

Hope this was helpful.

@Sommy,

And according to the same HP manual, the best discrete graphics card they mentioned is the ATI FirePro M5800 with HP p/n: 595823-001:

@Sommy,

The i7-840QM can be purchased inexpensively starting around $32 (we know this processor will be compatible for sure): Intel Quad Core i7-840QM: Search Result | eBay.

For reference purposes only:

[If you were to try out any of these CPUs, purchase it from a reputable eBay Seller who allows returns -in case it doesn't work.]

The i7-920XM can be purchased starting at $52: i7-920XM: Search Result | eBay

The i7-940XM can be purchased starting at $98: 940XM: Search Result | eBay
