Hi, I have a Compaq Presario CQ60 I bought around nine or ten years ago. Does anyone know what CPU I can upgrade too and is the GPU upgradeable. I was thinking of removing the DVD slot for an empty space so I could place a MXM card into the laptop sacrificing the WIFI card for the PCI slot. anyone know if this is possible? thanks in advance.

Ram: 2GB (Stock)
CPU: AMD Athlon x2 64 (Stock)
OS: Vista Home (Stock)

We need to know the full model number but yes the CQ60 series has socketed removeable processors, but the GPU is not upgradeable. The thing about the DVD drive and MXM makes no sense. An MXM video card goes into a very specific kind of socket that your laptop just does not have and cannot be added in any way, shape or form. The mini-pci slot used for the wifi card can only be used for a wifi card and not any kind of video card.

Service Manual:
Looks like the AMD ZM-82 is your highest and best CPU option. It would be a noticeable upgrade adding .3 ghz and double the L2 cache.
