Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Hi,

My sister bought this notebook in 2011. Now I organise a modernisation of it and I would like to insert SSD disc and use a high speed of it with AHCI controler. Is it possible in this computer? I haven't found such option in BIOS.

Absolutely you can. Just replace the hard drive with a 2.5 inch SATA SSD. It is an easy task...see p. 4-8 of the Service Manual here. The storage controller of the laptop is set to AHCI by default and cannot be changed. Windows 7 or later will recognize the disk as an SSD and will make all the necessary adjustments. You do not need to do anything with the BIOS. Just install the drive and load your OS onto it as if it were a hard drive. I am sure you are aware the laptop can also be expanded to 8 gigs RAM...DDR3-1333 SO-DIMM. 8 gigs of RAM and an SSD ought to make it useable for everyday computing.

Thank You, Huffer. 🙂

I have another question: May I install Windows 10 on this notebook?

HP Recommended

Yes although Windows 7 is probably a better "fit".

Thank You.

I asked, because there are no drivers for this computer using Windows 10 system at this support site:

That is what I mean. Windows 10 has a huge driver database included so in most cases you will not need to add drivers post-installation. If you do we can help you track them down one by one.
