I would like to upgrade the memory (RAM) for a HP Elitebook 840 G7.

The product information states that it has:

  • 2 x DDR4 SODIMMS
    • DDR4-2666 SDRAM
    • System runs at 2666 MT/s
    • Supports dual-channel memory

I would like to know:

  • What is the maximum size (GB) that each slot can take?
  • What is the maximum speed (MHz)?
  • What is the number of pins of the SODIMM?

I appreciate any help offered.

Hi:

Below is the link to the service manual.

Maintenance and Service Guide (hp.com)

Chapter 1 has the memory upgrade info.

Up to 2 x 32 GB of memory is supported.

You never need to know how many pins are on the memory chip.

That is all standard for the memory type.

DDR4 notebook memory has 260 pins.

4GB (x64, SR) 260-Pin DDR4 SODIMM (micron.com)

I recommend buying compatible Crucial memory for your notebook.

You can buy this memory in the UK as well.

Thank you very much for your response and clarification.

I too had visited Crucial, but just wanted to check from the side of the HP hardware as well.

Thanks again.
