I'm trying to add 4gb of RAM to the 4gb I already have. A sticker on my current memory module, the user's manual, and several different websites all specify that I need P/N 691740-001. But as I've been shopping, I've come across some pages that use P/N 691740-001 and P/N 691740-005 interchangeably (including a thread in this forum), and as far as my non-expert eyes can tell, the modules that these numbers refer to are indistinguishable.

Are those last three digits like a batch number or something? Are these in fact the same part? Could I use a module of each in the same computer? Is there some other number I should be using to identify and search for memory?

Hi,

Your machine uses part number 691740-001, it can't use part number 691740-005 because physically it won't fit as shown
