Compaq nx6325
Microsoft Windows 7 (32-bit)
Compaq nxnx6325 Part number: RE997PA#ABG. Has 512mgb of Ram. I use it for the band mixer because it has FireWire. I'd like to increase the memory. I've tried 2 gdifferent SODIMMs and it won't start up with the memory added. Last attempt I tried: Samsung 512MB 2Rx16 PC2-4200S-444-10-A1. I'm in Australia and this is a pretty old notebook. I think it's an early model. Belarc reveals nothing except the installed size of memory which I presume is soldered to the board: 512. What memory do I need? I guess I could open it up but I'm hoping someone here can advise me. Thanks a lot.

No those have one RAM slot underneath and then a slot under the keyboard that is still not too hard to get at.

See 5-12 and 5-29 of the Service manual:

Manual

Max memory is 2 gigs sorry. It needs DDR2-533 SO-DIMM:

Hi,

This is a very old machine and I loved the nc & nx series (that why I'm here). Please try the following link:

Your machine has 32bit Windows and it is perfect to upgrade to 4GB .

Regards.

Thanks for the reply. So the ram inside the case is removable? There's only one accessible slot.

Thanks for those responses. I put in the 2x4GB sticks I had purchased because I really didn't want to look for any more. The system only sees 4GB total but with an old SSD drive installed this thing is running like it's on speed!! So funny. It's like a different computer. Awesome. I'm so glad I persevered. I knew HP made some decent hardware - they are well regarded by multi platform users like myself. This thing is running like a MacBook! Perfect to take to gigs. Thanks again- great forum.
