I have an old notebook from 2009, an HP G42 230BR with motherboard Part Number: 595184-001, DDR3, HM55. I want to upgrade the Mini PCI-E.

 

What is the most current Mini PCI-E card that is compatible with my notebook?

If you are referring to upgrading the Wi-Fi card, unfortunately that would not be possible since the notebook has a BIOS whitelist which blocks the installation of any other model Wi-Fi card from working.

 

If you want better Wi-Fi, you will have to use a dual band USB Wi-Fi adapter.

 

They have some pretty small Wi-Fi 6 adapters that even come with Bluetooth:
