Is it hidden somewhere, or did I get falsely advertised to? The DisplayPort port was one of the main reasons for getting this laptop, as I had a high-end monitor lying around that came with only a DisplayPort cable I was hoping to use for it.

Welcome to our HP Community forum!
Your Pavilion 15-eg0073cl does not have a dedicated, physical DisplayPort connector (like the square-ish DP port you see on desktops). Please, let me explain. The spec sheet you quoted is accurate:
1 USB Type-C (10Gbps) with DisplayPort 1.4 support
1 HDMI 2.0
2 USB Type-A
1 headphone/mic combo
1 AC smart pin
What this means is that the USB-C port doubles as a DisplayPort output when used with the right cable/adapter. This is why the HP specs mention: “USB Type-C … DisplayPort 1.4”.
Thus:
You were not 'falsely advertised' to, but I understand perfectly that the wording can definitely be confusing.
To connect your monitor, you’ll need either a USB-C to DisplayPort adapter or a USB-C to DisplayPort cable (USB-C end to your laptop, DP end to your monitor).
Your monitor will then get the same quality signal as if it came from a native DisplayPort port.
The only thing your Pavilion 15 doesn’t have is a separate, dedicated DisplayPort jack on the chassis.
Kind Regards,
