I have the following two (2) related hardware questions for the hp experts, and both questions are in regards to the same JBK00 LA-4091P Rev 1A motherboard, which is installed within an hp Pavilion dv7-1243cl notebook computer:

 

Below, I included a picture that pertains to both of my questions.

 

 

QUESTION #1:  I accidently lost a resistor while repairing my girlfriend's motherboard. Do any of the experts know the ohm value for resistor R610?

 

 

 

As you can probably tell from the below picture, I accidently ripped all twelve (12) pin pads off the motherboard for FFC Connector JP36 (pictured below), so I have to bridge each of the FFC Connector (JP36) pin connections with 30AWG wire. That said, I’ve been unable to trace pin #10 on the FFC Connector to any component on the motherboard, so my remaining question is as follows:

 

 

QUESTION #2:  As for the twelve (12) pin FFC Connector shown within the below picture (PCB Component No.: JP36), which component does pin #10 connect to on the motherboard?

 

 

 

Any assistance would be PROFOUNDLY appreciated!

I figured it out, so I thought I'd post the answer just in case someone else has the same issue in the future.

 

R611 = 0.1 Ω

R610 = 0.1 Ω

What we can suggest you with this case, is to replace the mother board of the computer.

Would you happen to know if any of the 150+ hp employees and/or HannStar vendor employees participating in today's HP Expert Day are Electrical Engineers (EE)? I know hp and HannStar both employ small armies of EEs, so I was REALLY hoping at least one of them would be participating in today's event.

 

In theory, your EEs have fairly easy access to the Gerber files for all of your circuit boards, which I'm hoping also extends to your vendor's circuit boards (like my girlfriend’s hp factory installed HannStar motherboard). . .and, as you probably already know, if the EEs have access to the Gerber file for your JBK00 LA-4091P Rev 1A motherboard, then finding the ohm value for any resistor on that motherboard would be an extremely fast exercise for them.  

 

That said, is there anyone you can point me too?  I'm not afraid of additional footwork on my end, and any assistance would be appreciated. I already traced and repaired all of the actual complicated issues with this motherboard, so I'll start reverse engineering the last broken circuit (in order to identify the ohm value for the missing R610 resistor) if you think I won't find a faster answer amongst the other available hp employees/vendors/Experts.

Hi Melendda,

 

Your answer is all very well but you do not hold stock of motherboards that are over 12 months old.

 

I need a new motherboard for a 17-g108na and the official line is you no longer support this machine which is only 18months old.
