Hello,

I was thinking I had found one of the best laptops out in the market until my recent issue. I purchased this laptop in early 2016 for college and in December 2020 it died on me. I did stop using the laptop from 2018 until December 2020 when I decided to turn it on to update it and begin using it again as I was beginning to need a laptop again. As I turned it on I could see the LED power light come on but within a matter of seconds the CAP locks button would begin blinking. I began to research the issue online and began to read it could be BIOS issue or motherboard issue. Most people were saying its a motherboard issue and that it was a common issue on this laptop but I refused to believe it was that.

I then took it to a laptop shop to see if they could narrow the issue down and make sure it was not a motherboard issue and after sometime (it took the repair shop 3.5 months to diagnose my pc as they we're slammed with laptop repairs) I was told that the motherboard has failed and that I would need to replace it and it would cost me $480. I declined because the repair is almost half the price in which I bought the laptop for.

I have technically used this laptop for 2 years, and it was not heavy usage as most of it was writing papers for college. I am disappointed that HP have not done a recall if this is a common issue on this laptop. Can anyone help me out? Trying to see what can be done or speak to someone. Thanks.

Sorry for the bad news -- but no.  We have no influence on the recalls issued by HP, nor are we allowed to get involved in customer disputes of the same.

Gotcha. I was reading that HP would replace it has it was a faulty board and I am trying to see if they can replace it. Maybe pointing me in the right direction who to contact. Thanks. @WAWood

That's going to be very difficult.  Due to folks being scammed, HP pulled the US phone numbers, so we can not provide phone contacts anymore.  You now have to use the generic link but that wants model information and will check the warranty status.  If the warranty is expired, it will not issue you a service ticket and will not provide you additional contact info.
