Hi,
The part number for the motherboard is 680570-001
We can find this by looking at spec sheet. Your PC has 2GB dedicated graphics memory and came with Freedos originally.
Now looking on page 75-76 of service manual at the various sytem boards for the models of your PC we can see that yours is
"For use only with computer models equipped with 2 GB of dedicated switchable discrete video memory and FreeDOS 1.0"
Which has part number
680570-001
Service manual:
http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c03593041
Hope it helps,
David

Hi Sameh,
OK. If we take the product number of your PC C5B42EA .
At the top right of this web page, where we are now, click on Support (or hover the mouse pointer over Support) and on the ribbon tab which opens click on product which will take you to this page:
https://support.hp.com/us-en/products/
Now insert your product number in the text field and click on search on left of field (magnifying symbol) which will take you to this page:
On the list on left click on product information and then on
Now you will get to the page we looked at:
Hope it is helpfull,
David

Hi David,
Thank you so much for the valuable information.
I have another question though, I am trying to follow the same instructions and get the part number for another laptop of mine, the product number is LJ428AV
I can't find a link for the product specifications. Could you please help me find the motherboard part number of this laptop as well?
Best regards,
Sameh

Hi Sameh,
For buisness and CTO laptops it is a bit different because they can come with different configurations and still have the same model name and number.
So in this case with the EliteBook 8460p we need to look at the service manual and see if we can figure it out. Naturally all the motherboards listed will fit in the computer but will have different specifications and different performance.
http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c03253774
So we have these boards (unless you are in Russia or China)
For use in computers with UMA graphics:
● For use in computers with WLAN, no WWAN, no vPro (4M) 642755-001
● For use in computers with WLAN, with WWAN, no vPro (4M) 642756-001
● For use in computers with vPro (8M), WLAN, WWAN 642758-001
● For use in computers with vPro (8M), WLAN, WWAN, and USB 3.0 ports 642759-001
For use in computers with discrete graphics:
● For use in computers with WLAN, with WWAN, no vPro (4M) 642751-001
● For use in computers with vPro (8M), WLAN, WWAN, and 512-MB graphics 642753-001
● For use in computers with vPro (8M), WLAN, WWAN, and 1-GB graphics 642754-001
● For use in computers with vPro (8M), WLAN, WWAN, 1-GB graphics, and USB 3.0 ports 670123-001
So it depends if you had dedicated graphics and maybe 3.0 usb ports (the graphics is important as the heatsink will also be different as you can see on pagew 91)
Hope it helps.
