HP ENVY
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My laptop suddenly shut down on its own one day and I couldn't power it back on until about an hour or so even though it still had a good amount of battery life left. After I was finally able to turn it back on, I noticed that my main enter key and the left, down, and right arrow keys weren't working. I tried uninstalling the keyboard and its drivers and also removing the keys and cleaning them. Neither of those worked. I ran a keyboard test today from the HP PC Hardware diagnostics and found that the delete, home, end, pg up, and pg down keys do not work as well. I checked to make sure that num lock was not on. The regular arrow keys did not register in the test, but the arrow keys on the number pad did register even though I turned num lock off before the test. The enter key farthest to the right of my keyboard registered, but the enter key more towards the letter keys did not. Is there anything else that I can try or do I need to get my keyboard repaired?

Thank you for posting on HP Support Community.

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, I have a few troubleshooting steps we could try to fix the issue:

Use HP PC Hardware Diagnostics to complete functional test of the keyboard and identify any problems with the hardware.

note:Bluetooth devices are not currently supported.
  1. Download the latest version of HP PC Hardware Diagnostics.

  2. In Windows, search for and right-click HP PC Hardware Diagnostics for Windows, and then select Run as administrator.

Run HP PC Hardware Diagnostics Windows as an administrator

  3. Click Component Tests, click Input Devices, and then select the Keyboard Test.

    Running the Keyboard Test

  4. Click Run once to begin the test.

The test ends when you complete the tasks or after 3 minutes.

For more information about using the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics for Windows, go to HP PCs - Testing for Hardware Failures.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

I ran the keyboard test and the home, pgup, pgdown, del, end, left arrow, down arrow, right arrow, and period keys did not register. The enter key farthest to the right registered both enter keys, but the enter key towards the center did not register until I pressed the other enter key.  I added a picture of the test below. The failure ID code  is 0UX5B0-95MA5K-GXGJ3G-G1PX03.
