HP Spectre x360 - 15-df0069nr
Microsoft Windows 11

My HP Sprectre has come apart at the seams.  I saw another posting similar to mine and it looks like many folks have had this occur.  It got worse today, and now I cannot use the  number key pad! I need a solution fast.   I need to get this fixed and now of course I am out of warranty.  Is this fixable?  I do not want to send my pc away for a week...is there another solution.  I cannot work without it.

HP please help!  This pc has run hot since I purchased it. I'm sure I spoke to support about the heat previously. I was hoping the the splitting issue was just the clips, but have seen some posts regarding swelling of the battery...yikes.

From the information you posted, the battery is definitely swelling to a point where it is causing stress to the notebook.

You need to remove and replace the battery as soon as possible to prevent further damage to the internal components and notebook case.

Battery swelling is normally caused by leaving the notebook plugged into A/C power almost all the time with the battery in a constant 100% charge state.

The parts list for your notebook indicates the battery part number and description is:

L29184-005
Battery 6C 84Wh 3.64Ah LI SU0

HP PartSurfer

HP does not sell a replacement battery for your notebook, so the only suggestion I can offer would be to do a search by the HP L29184-005 battery part number and find a compatible aftermarket battery that references that part number.

Check on Amazon or eBay for example.

Thank you so much Paul.  It sounds like I should be able to fix myself.  I so appreciate your time, response and detail information about the battery.

You're very welcome.

Will I need new clips or anything else to get the cover on/off or will the two screwdrivers that come with the battery be sufficient?
