Hi there,

I got recently an SSD m.2 Sata ( WD Blue 250G 2280/m.2 ) and I have installed on my laptop but the bois or windows did't detect the SSD?! Just the HDD I have windows on

I searched like a lot and didn't find something useful for my case I have read the manual for my laptop too and it's said that m.2 SSD supported by the laptop

I have updated to the last bois also to f.35

I have read that I have to switch over the Sata mode to AHCI

But there's no sata mode controller on my laptop!!!

bios settings
legacy boot enabled

secure boot disabled

AHCI is SATA mode and is the only mode the storage controller on your laptop can be set to. The Service Manual for your model does a very poor job of showing where the M.2 slot is located. What did you find in there? Have you tried removing the 2.5 inch hard drive to see if the M.2 is recognized then?

Thanks for your reply,

yes, I have tried that too but didn't recognize my SSD too!  ( the Bois tells no hard drive on the laptop  )
The place of the m.2 slot is on the right side of the HDD

I even tried WD SSD dashboard and keep saying no WD SSD detected

We have occasionally seen reports like this where even if the laptop has an M.2 port it turns out to be nonfunctional. The problem seems to be most common on the earlier models with M.2 generally 6th gen Intel Core and where the M.2 port is right next to the hard drive and is SATA only such that it is likely sharing a SATA channel with the hard drive.  We don't see this happen on 7th and 8th gen models. The only other thing I can say is make sure to insert the M.2 fully. I just had this happen to me on a laptop where the system did not detect the M.2 the first time I tried it so I opened it and reinserted the M.2 a little more vigorously and on reboot it was there. Likely you have also tried that, too I think.

So you saying it's just a useless port not working on my laptop!
No solution to this?!

This what it looks after I inserted before!

HP has never really provided an explanation but we have had more than a few reports just like this and the only logical answer is the port is just not enabled in the BIOS or in the way the motherboard was manufactured. BIOS updates will not help as you have seen.

So it doesn't matter if I try again for disassembling and installing the SSD again!
is there a chance that the SSD itself corrupted?!

I would keep trying and yes there is some small chance the problem is the SSD itself.
