  • The last screenshot was taken on the same laptop using windows 10 (I downgraded it.)
  • Look at the last screenshot. My battery's full charge capacity was 100% (41 WHr) in the second screenshot, then dropped to 96% (40 WHr) on this 5-month-old laptop.
  • I use this laptop at home and usually use it until the battery drops to 35-40%, then I charge it to 80% because I  heard that keeping the laptop stays charged all the time ruins the battery's life, even though I want to do that so much. Since HP doesn't have software to limit battery charges, I have to do the 30-80 to extend battery life (Am I doing it right?). My question is, why did my battery's full charge capacity drop to 96%? I think I took care of it pretty well or is it because I charged it too often?

Hello @Pathethick

Do the following trick ...

(1) Open the windows device manager and uninstall the "Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery

- Right click on "Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery"

- Click "Uninstall device"

- Confirm your choice if you see a popup notification

ub6424_0-1655826479380.png

(2) Shutdown your notebook/computer

(3) Remove battery, remove ac adapter, press and hold the power button for 30 seconds.

(Note: If you cannot remove battery because you have to open the notebook and don't want to do it, just start the notebook and go directly into the bios (ESC/F1/F2/F10) and let the notebook stay there (don't connect the AC adapter !) until it is switching off.

(3) Install battery, plugin ac adapter and wait until the battery is fully charged (don't start the windows operating system !) and check the charging led.

(4) If you do have no charging led, wait at least 2 hours ...

(5) Start your notebook/computer, now the windows battery management system is synchronized with your installed battery. Normally it should show 98-100% battery level.

(6) If your battery level is too low and you are loosing your battery capacity too fast, your battery has to be replaced...

Thank you for your response. I think you misunderstood my point. I meant that my laptop's battery health dropped to 97% in 5 months, but it normally charges to 100%.

Hello @Pathethick

(1) Update BIOS

HP Notebook System BIOS Update (AMD Processors)

F.20 Rev.A12.1 MBMar 31, 2022Download

(2) HP Business Notebook PCs - HP Battery Health Manager

https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/ish_4449597-3519507-16

Quote: "

The Maximize My Battery Health setting limits the maximum state-of-charge on the notebook battery to 80%, which has been proven to optimize battery health and helps mitigate battery swelling due to high state-of-charge.

"

(3) If you cannot install battery health manager, check the bios - energy - battery options for "Maximize Health"

Thank you for your response. I want to know that is it normal that my battery capacity dropped from 100% to 96% in 5 months?  I think I took care of it pretty well or is it because I charged it too often?

Hello @Pathethick

It could be a production-related error, which after a short time has led to a technical error in the battery.
