My laptop has recently begun to randomly restart. There is no consistency as to when it happens and no apparent pattern. It just can restart after a few minutes on or after one entire day of work.
I have done the whole 'uncheck the automatic restart' suggestion, but have not fot any blue screen or error code to even point me in a possible solution or source for the issue.
The windows is original and fully update and I've also checked for hardware problems and found nothing.
The BIOS is also up to date, using HP Support Assistant.
Can you help?
The laptop is new and this issue is very annoying.
Thanks in advance.

@ acpinto,
Welcome to HP Forums,
This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips,
Thank you for posting your query, I'll be more than glad to help you out 🙂
I understand your computer restarts automatically.
Don't worry I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:
Let’s start with the below steps:
Perform a hard reset (click here for details)
If the computer still turns off every few seconds, try with an alternate adapter and/or remove the battery and try turning on the computer without the battery,
Only connect the adapter and start.
Do get back to me as I have a few more tricks up my sleeve. Said that, if I have helped you resolve the issue.
If you like to appreciate my efforts clicking on 'Accepted as Solution'
Feel free to give me a virtual high-five by clicking the 'Thumbs Up'
Have a great day Ahead!

Hello.
I haven't had the chance to try the hard reset yet, but as soon as I do it I'll get back to you.
Anyway, I'd like to add that the computer has been restarting without the battery removed, only on direct power, and it happens randomly, that is, after some minutes of work or after a whole day. There is no pattern.
When using it with the battery power it never seems to restart randomly as with the power cord. That's why I suspect it has something to do with the power supplier itself.
But I'll try the hard reset and let you know.
Thanks in advance.

Hello again.
So far so good.
I've done the hard reset on the laptop yesterday and no restarts for now.
I'm guessing it is yet to soon to be sure but for now things are looking swell.
Let's wait a few more hours/days to see if the problem is really solved or not.
Thank you

You've been great to work with and it has been a genuine pleasure interacting with you.
I hope both you and your product works great and remain healthy for a long time 😉
Have a great day;)

Hello.
I'm sorry to say that the laptop restarted again today, so the hard reset solution hasn't worked out.
The system is fully updated (drivers and BIOS included) and with direct power (no battery).
Do you have any other suggestion?
I'm starting to question if it is a hardware problem, even without having detected a single error of that kind.
Thank you

It's a shame.
If I don't find an appropriate solution from HP, I'll never buy one single product of theirs anymore.
I thought HP was a good brand and that it had a fine support, but no one seems to find a solution for this.
I have my laptop for almost three months now and I never know if the work I do on it is safe or not, because it can restart anytime or not. This makes the laptop a lousy work tool, especially because I do lots of on-the-fly projects in several platforms and I need to save them on a minute basis or I have the risk of losing important data. I also work online with others and it's very disappointing to find our conversations or file exchange being unexpectedly interrupted.
Is there anyone qualified enough on HP to solve this??
