My HP Notebook is approximately 2 yrs old. Now it is running only on AC power and even on AC power, it shuts down automatically within a few minutes of operation. Because of this instant shutdown, my PC has started to freeze very often and I am fearing that it is not healthy for my OS as well. What is the reason behind this problem and how can I fix this issue. Please help!

I reviewed your post and I understand that the computer is shutting down automatically after a few minutes.
Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.
Are you getting any error message before the computer shuts down? (Like overheating, system fan error)
Meanwhile, I recommend you follow the steps in the below article and check if it helps.

NOTE: Though the heading in the article says the computer doesn’t start the steps are relevant for the issue you are facing.
Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!

Hello,
Thank you for your post. My problem still is not fixed. I have given my try to HP PC Hardware Diagnostics to check my laptop's battery and adapter and the result shows no problem with them. I have also already tried resetting my laptop in the past, no fix. My laptop previously used to show 601 battery error. I think its time for my laptop to get its battery changed. Thank you for the support you provided 🙂

Thank you for posting back.
Let's try this:
1. Go to Start, search for Device Manager, and open this result.
2. Expand batteries.
3. Right-click on the ACPI option (usually the 2nd option) and select delete or uninstall. Follow the prompts.
4. Shut down the computer.
5. Disconnect the charger.
6. Remove the battery.
7. Hold down the power button for 1 minute.
8. Insert the battery only.
9. Attempt to turn the battery on.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
