Hi @fr2511TU,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP Laptop 15s is showing "plugged in but not charging," and now it has fully discharged, there are several potential reasons for this issue. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can follow to resolve the problem.

  • Check the power adapter and cable: Ensure that the power adapter and charging cable are not damaged and are functioning correctly. Try using a different power outlet as well.
  • Inspect the charging port: Make sure the charging port on your laptop is clean and free from any debris or dust that might be obstructing the connection.
  • Restart your laptop: Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve temporary issues related to charging.
  • Update drivers: Check for any available updates for your laptop's battery and power-related drivers. Go to HP's support website and download the latest drivers if necessary.
  • Reset the battery management system: Some laptops have a built-in battery management system that can be reset. To do this, turn off the laptop, unplug it from the power source, and then hold the power button down for about 15 seconds. Reconnect the power adapter and turn on the laptop.
  • Perform a hard reset: Shut down the laptop, unplug it, remove the battery (if it's removable), and then hold the power button for about 15-20 seconds. Afterward, reinsert the battery (if applicable) and plug in the laptop to see if it starts charging.
  • Check battery health: Windows usually has built-in battery health diagnostics. You can access this by right-clicking on the battery icon in the taskbar and selecting "Battery Health." This will provide you with information about the battery's condition.
  • Update BIOS: Visit HP's support website and check if there's an updated BIOS available for your laptop. Sometimes, BIOS updates can address battery-related issues.
  • Check for software issues: Certain software or background processes may be causing charging problems. Try booting your laptop into Safe Mode and see if the issue persists. If the laptop charges in Safe Mode, it might indicate a software conflict.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
