Hp 15 Notebook
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My Hp 15 Notebook is less than 4 months old and the battery seems to be malfunctioning.  The laptop cannot be turned on using the battery only but then it will run on a battery for a couple hours or so (not sure if its a back up battery that is actually kicking in or what). The battery alert icon on the bottom of my screen states that is 240% charged but it has an x thru the icon. For 3 hours, I ran ALL the diagnosistic stuff that HP provides.  They all state that I do not have a battery installed (!). This just started happening about 3 days ago.   It is an internal battery so I cannot reboot it manually.

Ok, so the battery seems bad. What makes it worse is the fact that it is impossible to actually talk with anyone from HP on how to have a new battery installed for free (it better be for free since my year warranty has NOT expired) since its a hardware issue.  Will a HP Service place, like Office Depot, fix it for free?  Need help before Final Exams arrive.
